X Upgrade

Description

Please follow the following steps to upgrade the PowerConnect application from Support Pack 7.X to 8.0X.

• Log into the managed system where the upgrade is planned and execute the /n/bnwvs/main transaction.

• Stop the collector job by selecting the ”Stop Collector” button .

• Wait to confirm that all metrics have been sent to Splunk.

• Stop the remaining jobs using the “Toggle Uploader” and the “Stop Check Job” buttons.

• Important: Clean-up all metric tables using the Goto->Troubleshooting->Truncate cluster functionality. More detailed instructions on the Truncate cluster functionality is available using this link: KB 63 - How to remove all collected metrics. This step is mandatory, since the metric serialization approach is changed, and it will cause issues once uploading is started after upgrade:

• Use SPAM to apply 7.04. You do not need to follow any of the post-configuration steps such as the BC Set activation and restart of the jobs outlined in the linked document after the SPAM upgrade. • Use SAINT to upgrade to 8.0X. Follow the instructions provided here: Import the agent via SAINT (PowerConnect ABAP 8.X)

• Activate BC set /BNWVS/ BCSET _500  (Tcode=SCPR20). Follow the instructions provided here: Activate Business Configuration Sets (PowerConnect ABAP 8.X)

• Import the new authorization object transport via STMS and updated roles using the PFCG transaction. Follow the instructions provided here: Upload PowerConnect Roles (PowerConnect ABAP 8.X)

• Start PowerConnect Background jobs.
