Data Description
The HDB_DBCC_EXPSTM event is used in SAP to view expensive SQL statements run on the HANA database. Expensive statements are individual SQL queries whose execution time was above a configured threshold. Expensive statements may negatively impact the performance of the database.
Potential Use Cases
This event could be used in the following scenarios:
Alert on long-running SQL statements.
Identify opportunities where performance could benefit from having an index created.
Correlate long-running SQL statements to the user session in the application layer.

The event will look like this in Splunk:
SAP Navigation
Execute the dbacockpit transaction in the system. Open the Performance folder and double-click on “Expensive Statements”. Enter the desired user selection criteria in the top of the screen, and then click on the Execute button. The information displayed on the right side of the screen will match the data that is extracted and sent to Splunk.
