SPAD_STATUS

SPAD_STATUS

Data Description

The SPAD_STATUS event is used in SAP for spool administration.

Potential Use Cases

This event could be used in the following scenarios:

  • Identify and alert on devices which are not reachable for completing spool functions.

  • Create a dashboard to display spool status by device.

  • Correlation with other events in the environment such as data from SP01 or SM37.

Metric Filters

This metric filter configuration feature is introduced in version 8.04. The filter configuration maintenance is mandatory for retrieving Printer Status data. It provides flexibility to enable or disable the collection of SPAD Printer connection details within the system. Log into the managed system and execute the /n/BNWVS/MAIN transaction. Then go to Administrator → Metric Filters → Interfaces → SPAD dest. filter.

By default, all SPAD printer destinations are loaded into the filter list. To include only specific printer destinations, select the "Activate" checkbox for the desired entries and click on SAVE button.

If new printer destinations are added after the initial configuration or if some printers were not included, you can add them later by clicking the ‘Update Folder List’ button. This will refresh the filter configuration list, ensuring that all missing printer destinations are included. These destinations can then be activated or left inactive as needed.

For example, clicking the button added a new printer destination, ‘Test,’ to the list below. Click the SAVE button to update the filter configuration with the newly added destination.
