MSS_DB02_BLOCKS - MS SQL Database Blocking Locks

Data Description

The MSS_DB02_BLOCKS event is used in SAP to provide an overview of the Blocking Locks (wait situations that are currently caused by database locks) on MS SQL Database.

Potential Use Cases

This event could be used in the following scenarios:

  • Determine an overview of Blocking Locks (wait situations that are currently caused by database locks) on MS SQL database.

  • Monitor to determine if critical blocking locks are present and send alerts

  • Determine how frequently the blocking locks occur and on which data-based table

  • Can be used to find which Programs/Transactions are responsible for blocking locks and schedule the execution of such transactions accordingly

SAP Navigation

Log in to the SAP ECC system (having MS SQL database) and execute the transaction DBACOCKPIT. Navigate to Performance->Locks. The ‘Blocking Locks’ sub-screen of the Lock entrance screen displays the list of blocking locks.
